By Land, Sky & Sea
find that you are now a star shining in a galaxy. As a star, you birth a solar system; through gravity, you draw to you cold space mass, and it forms into gaseous orbs of brilliant colours, and they orbit around you. In a moment, this is all forgotten, and you are a human being on a planet of flourishing and evolving life. It is a green and blue planet, and you thrive here. You find yourself on a vast plain; you crouch down to dig your hands into the dirt. As you do, the coolness of the soil reacts with your skin, and you fall into the dark womb of the Mother, who nourishes and sustains you. Deep down, in the centre of the earth, is her molten core—a star! You are light again! You rush outward, and in one explosive sigh of utter joy, your awareness expands to encompass all the planets, all the stars, all the galaxies, and all the worlds. You feel that there are so many sighs, and your sigh, in this infinitesimal moment, has synchronised with the others to create harmony, balance, and clarity. You know that the “edges” of your expanded consciousness are boundless, and you feel no end to your soaring, sighing truth of existence. For now, you are everywhere, in everything. You remember the origin of depth inside—the no-thing of no-where; the void of nonexistence that sought to see itself in the mirror. You are a child of that void, and you are a creator of the All which is life.

Energy Work
I find that because energy is such an ambiguous concept, the work we do with energy can be just as vague and often misleading in terms of instructions. However, it is essential for a Witch to have a good energetic grounding because this is fundamental to our Craft. Energy is what we weave with; it is what we raise, channel, direct, and release when we are engaging magickally with the world. Indeed, in my mind, it should be compulsory learning at schools! However, I digress.
In an aspirant training session with my coven in early 2009, I asked each of the Witches present what they felt energy is. I smiled (verging on laughter) as they, one to the other, came up with more definitions for energy than the number of people in the room. This is the point. Energy is electrical charge; it is interaction and interface between living things; it is transformation, change, and catalyst; and it definitely is life force. It is also a creative metaphoric expression for all these things, because essentially the concept of “energy” is meaningless. Energy is not necessarily a substance or a current of force—but it is very real and present within all things. It is what qualifies our experiences. Energy is life. To me, energy is synonymous with magick.
To further your relationship with magickal energy, I have provided an arsenal of energetic exercises below for the avid Witch. I have also provided a very brief introduction on quantum physics so that you may ground your magick in “scientific” understandings. It is always good to know that science is validating our experiences out there in the “real” world, but never let it justify who you are, or make or break your trust in how you experience life. Like everything, balance is the key.
    Exploring Quantum 101
The new physics revealed to us that a complete understanding of reality requires more than the capabilities of rational thought.
—Reginald Crosley, M.D., The Vodou Quantum Leap
Quantum physics and the reality (or the lack thereof, perhaps) it postulates is often touted as one of the greatest scientific validations of magick, Witchcraft, and all things generally deemed “supernatural.” Whether or not Witches and other magickal folk need this validation can be argued, as I for one do not require it for my spiritual “security.” However, it is often helpful when sharing dialogue with individuals who do not engage in magickal/spiritual things to be able to ground a common understanding of our cosmologies, philosophies, and sacred truths with what modern
