Jesus, my leg hurts,” Logan winced as he hobbled back into the garage.
“Logan, I’ve got a first aid kit in the office. I can sort you out,” Deanna shouted.
“Thanks babe. Go with her. I’ll strip the bike down and find out what went wrong,” Nate replied, rolling the bike to a stop in a bay, kicking down the stand as he inspected the damage.
“Cheers mate,” Logan replied as he followed Deanna.
“Sit,” Deanna instructed, getting the large first aid kit out of a cupboard in the office as Logan sat in her chair at the desk.
After her attack Nate had insisted that every member of the club take part in an extensive first aid course. Working around tools and motors all day often resulted in cuts and scrapes and Nate had wanted them all to be able to deal with emergencies. He’d also insisted that they learn CPR and how to handle any serious injuries. Deanna knew Nate had requested this as he was haunted by memories of the time she’d been bleeding from slashes and a stab wound caused by Lee and he’d had no idea how to help her before the Paramedics arrived.
“Shit, that stings,” Logan complained as Deanna knelt on the floor and cleaned the cuts on his knees, which thankfully weren’t too deep.
“Are you alright?” she asked concerned.
“I don’t know what the fuck happened. The bloody thing just wouldn’t stop. Shit me right up it did.”
“Well thankfully it doesn’t look too bad. I’ll just stick some plasters on and you should be fine. Heather can check it later for you.” Even though Heather, his fiancé, was actually a local vet her skills often came in useful.
“Thanks Deanna,” he said, kissing her on the cheek as he limped out.
Deanna watched as he made his way over to Nate, who was bent over the damaged bike looking at the wiring.  She stood watching the pair and out of the corner of her eye she noticed Alastair talking with Shaun, both of them had gleeful expressions on their faces. When they noticed they were being watched they turned away from her and Deanna frowned at their behaviour.

“I swear to you Nate. I didn’t touch the break pipe. How the bastard got cut I don’t know,” Logan stated.
“You could have caught it accidentally before you put it back together,” Nate suggested.
“Aye, maybe,” Logan replied, but he didn’t sound convinced.
Deanna walked inside the garage as she listened to Nate and Logan quietly discussing what happened earlier to the motorbike. They stopped talking when she appeared.
“You alright? Is it time to go home?” Nate asked her.
“The break pipe was cut?” she asked.
“It’s nothing to worry about. It was probably just an accident. Thankfully Logan wasn’t too badly hurt and the bike can be easily repaired. I’m sure he’ll enjoy Heather fussing over him later,” Nate said quickly, changing the subject and winked at Logan who smiled as he wandered off.
Nate wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“You excited about tomorrow?” he asked, trying to take her mind of the accident, but it was obvious he was worried.
“Yep. I finally get the tattoo finished for your birthday at the weekend. But next year will be the big one, I can’t believe my old man will be forty. Do you want to do anything special? I’ll have plenty of time to prepare for something amazing.”
“Nah, as long as I have you and Holly that’s all I ever want.” Deanna smiled at his comment as she reached up and kissed him in gratitude.

    CHAPTER 11

Deanna quickly made her way inside the noisy clubhouse, Nate’s birthday party already in full swing. She was late as Holly had caught chicken pox from her playgroup and she wouldn’t settle. Holly had cried uncontrollably as she’d scratched her itchy spots, but Deanna was finally able to get her to sleep as Alice stayed with her.
She came to a shocked stop as her eyes widened at what she saw. The clubhouse looked very different and Deanna stared opened mouthed at the writhing half
