this vaguely.
But, what troubled him even more was the idea of someone at the motel spying on them and reporting back to the timeshare firm. This confirmed his suspicion that someone was passing information and the timeshare investors were using it to sabotage the motel just to lower its value. But, proving that would be a challenge.  And, takeover firms wouldn’t hesitate to play dirty like driving the motel into bankruptcy so they could buy it for a rock bottom price.  This was not exactly what he had planned when he agreed to help Jose. It started out as just a small loan. Now, he would have to think seriously about what to do for everyone’s protection.
The plane glided onto the Santa Ana runway in Orange County under the night lights of the city. Everyone was quiet as they emptied the plane, cleared customs and headed toward the terminal. Bob walked Carrie to her car placing her bag in the front seat. She wrapped her arms around his waist hugged him before lifting her head for a final kiss.
“Call me when you get some time this week, Bob, and I’ll cook dinner for us,” said Carrie pulling out her keys. Bob leaned forward as she settled into the driver’s seat and smiled, “Give me a day or two to catch up on phone calls and I’ll be in touch.”
He watched her drive away and thought about her involvement. If they knew about him, they now knew about her. Maybe he should keep her away from Pleasure Cove for a while until he sorted this out. He would not jeopardize her safety. She had become too important to him - which was even a little frightening to him.
Two days later Bob was catching up with his work. He ran his hand across his face. He had made all the final fish tournament details with Jose. He’d decided not to speak on the phone with him about the plane trouble. If there was a spy at the motel, he wasn’t going to give him any more information by talking on the phone.  He had racked his brain wondering who could have sabotaged that plane and there were only a few choices. He would discuss them all with Jose but his money was on Pedro who sat at the front desk, was bi-lingual and could easily disappear for a few minutes without the staff noticing.
One more thing to add to the list, he thought to himself – check out everyone’s background. He would try to spend more time chatting with Pedro next weekend during the tournament.  Now, he had to focus on his business which needed some attention. His medical supply company had good managers but he knew they had delays with one Texas manufacturer. And he couldn’t neglect Carrie. Maybe he should call her now. Hearing her voice would cheer him up. He could always call Texas later.
“Hi, this is Carrie,” she responded picking up the phone.
“Hello, yourself,” Bob replied, “What are you up to today?”
She smiled cradling the phone as she stood in the kitchen. “I’m making some of those biscuits you love,” she said tempting him, “And I’ve got honey to drizzle on them.”
“I’ll be right over,” Bob joked, “I was calling to take you up on that dinner offer.” He looked at his calendar, “What day looks good to you?” he asked.
“How about tonight?” Carrie replied, “I’ve missed you.”
“I can make that work,” Bob agreed, “I’ve missed you, too. Is seven OK?”
“Perfect, I’ll see you then.” She hung up the phone and stirred the batter. “Now what will go with these biscuits?” She thought for a minute, “Maybe some baked ham and garlic mashed potatoes with strawberries dipped in dark chocolate for dessert.”  She smiled and began planning an evening at home that he wouldn’t forget.  Her roommate was gone so they had the house to themselves. She put on her favorite Adele CD and began cooking.
Bob’s last call for the day was to his local attorney. He needed someone to give him legal advice. Maybe Roy knew an attorney well-versed in Mexican law. There had to be a legal ploy that could stall
