this problem. He dialed the number waiting while Roy’s secretary put him through.
“Hello, Roy,” greeted Bob, “How’s the family?”  The men chatted for a moment about kids and college before Bob addressed the heart of the matter. “Listen, Roy, do you know someone who is experienced in international law? I’ve invested in a little motel just over the border, and it seems like a Latin timeshare company is suddenly interested in buying it out.  I sure would like to persuade them to go look elsewhere.”
“Our firm does have an associate in San Diego who might know someone,” responded Roy, “I’ll give him a call for you. Shall I pass on your number to him?”
“That would be great. Remember when our families used to camp every summer in the cove near Laguna Beach?  I want to keep this little place just like that if I can. Thanks for your help, Roy; I’ll let you know how it goes.”

    Chapter 9

While Bob showered, he thought over the day. Everything was ready for this weekend. Now, he just had to decide what to do with Carrie next weekend. Maybe they could drive up to Santa Barbara so he could keep her out of danger until he had a better handle on things. She would love the romance of a coastal drive and being spoiled at a fancy motel.
He grabbed a bottle of wine as he walked out the door and threw his duffel bag in the trunk. If things went well, he’d spend the night since he wouldn’t see Carrie for several days.  He smiled just thinking about her.
Carrie opened the door at Bob’s knock kissing him in the doorway. She led him into the den where she had lit the fireplace and set candles around. But, Bob was mesmerized by the pale cream diaphanous gown that Carrie was wearing. It was so simple and delicate with no collar or sleeves, but he could see right through it and she looked delicious moving across the room. She wore a new perfume; he noticed the hint of citrus.
“Forget about dinner, I just want you,” declared Bob pulling her into his arms to kiss her again. “You smell wonderful,” he kissed behind her ears.
She slid her arms around his neck and kissed him for a long time before pulling back. “I can bring dinner in here so we can eat in front of the fire if you’d like.”
“Why don’t you get the plates and I’ll open the wine?” Bob offered. He followed her into the kitchen for a bottle opener and glasses. “Mm-m,” it smells good in here, too,” he noticed as she handed him the opener.
“Baked ham with apples and cloves and garlic mashed potatoes. You’re gonna eat like a farm boy tonight, baby. But dessert’s a surprise.”
“Taste the wine, Carrie, tell me if you like it. I’m already drunk just looking at you in that dress.” He ran his hand lightly down her back.
Carrie gave his a sexy smile and lifted the wine glass to her lips. “Very nice,” she shared handing him the glass so he could take a sip, too. He placed his lips right where she had sipped. They exchanged an intimate glance before she turned to pull the ham out of the oven. She let it cool while she prepared the plates then sliced the ham and poured some of the juices over the meat.
“Can you take this one, Bob, and I’ll carry mine.” She followed him to the coffee table and set across from him with her back to the fireplace. Bob noticed immediately that the firelight illuminated her dress so he could watch her nipples graze the fabric each time she moved. He tried to focus on the food, but gave up for a moment sipping his wine as he watched her. It seemed so natural the way she intrigued him by touching his hand, stroking her wine glass or lifting her hand to her face.
“Is your food OK?” Carrie asked when she noticed him holding his fork. He nodded and took a taste of the baked apple seasoned with cinnamon and honey. He bit into a biscuit and moaned with pleasure at the butter she had melted inside it. Carrie smiled as she refilled their wine glasses and asked Bob about
