Chapter 12 – Levi
    B ack in the loft, I paced the spacious room in bare feet. Where the hell was Montana? It was seventeen minutes passed the time she was supposed to be there already.
    Hell, she was never late.
    Maybe something had happened. I checked my phone for messages.
    Nothing.
    Maybe she’d changed her mind. But no, she wouldn’t just ditch me, would she?
    Grabbing hold of the remote, I turned the music down a notch and listened for a moment. I couldn’t believe how rattled and unhinged I felt just because Montana hadn’t arrived. I’d become so accustomed to her always being there that for a moment, panic rose in my chest at the thought of her not showing up.
    Were those her heels clicking on the concrete floor? I glanced up at the clock. Twenty-six minutes late. Damn. I might give her a spanking just for making me worry.
    A sharp rap on the wooden door surprised me. Why wasn’t Montana using her key? Since I was in fact lurking close to the door, I pulled it open with a jerk.
