afraid.
She instantly began to think about her baby in the next room. She was hoping he didn’t wake up crying and let it be known that he was there.
She didn’t know what was going to happen or even why they had come. As the men’s eyes ogled her body, she wanted to pull up the covers but was frozen in place.
Everyone in the room heard the running water stop.
The men cocked their weapons, and Halleigh’s body stiffened when she heard the hammer to the .38 pull back. She did the only thing she could do and lifted her eyes to the sky and prayed silently.
Please, God, don’t let them kill Malek. Please, don’t let him come into this room.
Halleigh wasn’t even worried about her well-being; the only thing she could think of was Malek. She didn’t know what she would do if something happened to him.
Malek wrapped a towel around his waist and then made his way into the bedroom. He opened the door, and the sight of a gun threatening Halleigh’s existence enraged him. He ran toward the bed but was halted by a bulky goon, who aimed a Ruger .357 Magnum in his direction.
â€œMalek!” Halleigh yelled out, afraid he would be shot. Her heart was beating like a drum, and tears began to swell in her eyes.
Malek’s mind was focused on getting to her; he wasn’t thinking about the hole that the Ruger would leave in his chest if fired. He grabbed the goon’s wrist and punched him hard in the face, causing blood to flood from his nose.
â€œAghhh! You muthafucka!,” the goon yelled out in pain as he cupped his face with both hands and dropped to his knees in pain.
In one swift movement, Malek snatched the weapon from his hands and pointed it toward the bed where Scar stood next to a terrified Halleigh. Malek was working straight off of emotion and didn’t notice the third goon, until he had his gun pressed against Malek’s head.
Scar laughed as he jabbed his gun against Halleigh’s head. “Malek, what the fuck are you doing? You’re Superman now?” He continued to chuckle, and then firmly stated, “Don’t be stupid! Put down the gun.”
Malek hesitated as he looked at Halleigh, whose eyes were closed.
â€œWhat are you going to do?” Scar taunted. “You going to kill me, Malek? Before you even move your finger, her brains will be all over the bedspread.”
Malek dropped the gun and glared at Scar, who now had the gun on Halleigh’s bare breasts, the cold steel making her dark nipples stand at attention, enraging Malek even more. He could see Halleigh trembling, and his jaw clenched as he gritted his teeth.
â€œYour girl has a nice pair of tits,” Scar said as he stared Malek down.
Malek knew that Scar wouldn’t hesitate to kill Halleigh, so he kept his cool.
â€œYou got out of the club pretty fast last night. I didn’t want to kill you, playboy. Just wanted to send you a message.”
    â€œIf you touch her—”
â€œIf I touch her, what? What are you going to do, li’l nigga?” Scar clenched his teeth together.
â€œThis has nothing to do with her. Let’s handle this amongst ourselves.”
â€œI think she has a lot to do with this. I asked you if you wanted to get down; you told me no. I don’t take rejection too good, as you can see. Maybe you need to reconsider your answer. Right?” Scar gave Malek a small smirk and then focused his eyes back on Halleigh’s exposed body.
â€œYeah, maybe I will reconsider,” Malek said, telling Scar what he thought he wanted to hear.
â€œGreat!” Scar smiled from ear to ear as if they were friends. “That’s all I can ask for.”
Scar and his crew headed for the door. He had no intentions of killing Malek or his family on that day. He just wanted to send him a message. Wanted to let him know he could be touched at any time.
Once they were out of the room, Malek rushed over to Halleigh and held her in
