hadn’t seen his own woman, holding a brown baggy. “Now if you’ll excuse me. I’ve got my own woman to attend to.” Ducking under the counter, he rushed toward her, wrapping her up in his arms, and holding her close. “Fuck, baby, I missed you,” he said.
He cupped her face, kissing her lips, sliding his tongue inside when she gasped, allowing him entry.
“Do I even want to know what was going on there?”
    “Brass wants to fuck her.”
“I did wonder why his tongue was dangling out, panting. I wonder if she’ll fall for the act.”
    “You didn’t?”
“I’m with you, aren’t I? He was nice, kind of sweet, but I don’t know, there was always an edge of lies to him. I’m not into that. I talked to Daisy about it once, and he said that Brass has many faults, but when he needed him, he was all right.”
“He is. It’s why we keep him around. Many clubs have them. You know, that one guy that’s a total asshole, and you wonder why you haven’t ended his sorry-ass existence.” He reached down to cup her ass. “Anyway, what brought you here?”
“Well, I thought it would be nice for us to have lunch together, and also, I figured why the hell not. We’re dating, aren’t we?”
“That we are,” he said, chuckling.
“Dating couples have lunch. If you feel I’m smothering you with my presence let me know.”
“There’s no smothering.” Knuckles looked around the dirty yard, and shook his head. “Come on, there’s a little park a few feet from here. We can sit under a tree.”
He took hold of her hand, and they walked down the small stretch of road. Knuckles liked it. They weren’t hiding who they were. Daisy had issues. The way he saw it, Daisy was her brother, so he had a right to act like an asshole. He didn’t agree with it, but he wasn’t about to start fighting with him.
    “How was work?” Knuckles asked.
“Good. Clinton’s got something going on. I don’t know what. At first I thought it had to do with this woman he wants to date. He says it’s not, and that the woman wouldn’t return his calls. Usually he’s the one dealing with the guys that have done wrong, or the guys in a divorce, or what not. He’s gone to see a victim today. He didn’t want me to come with him, and I haven’t been allowed access to the file. It’s kind of strange,” she said.
He heard the concern in her voice, and he didn’t like it. “Do you want me to go and talk to him?”
    “No.”
    “Clinton will talk to me.”
“I’m not having my boyfriend go and intimidate my boss. I can handle it. Clinton has always been a little weird anyway, no problem.”
They entered the park, and he saw the children playing. He also saw Crazy with Leanna, and their little boy, Luke. Strawberry was in school.
    “Let’s go and say hi.”
They walked up toward the happy couple.
“Well, well, well, does Daisy know?” Crazy asked.
Leanna tapped his arm. “Seriously, that’s the first thing you’re going to say to them?”
“It’s not the only thing I’m going to say. God, woman, you don’t need to hit so hard.” Crazy gasped.
Beth laughed. “Daisy knows, and he’s a little pissed about it, but then, he’s only my brother, so it shouldn’t matter what he says, should it?”
“Mommy, Daddy, look, look,” Luke said, grabbing a pole, and sliding down it.
Knuckles chuckled. Crazy and Leanna hadn’t been around the club all that much in the last few months. They’d been doing some house changes, and getting Strawberry settled into a new school, which was closer to them.
Beth squeezed his hand and stood talking with Leanna.
“Is this going to cause some club trouble?”
“It shouldn’t. Daisy knows I’m not messing around. It’s the real deal.”
    “You going to claim her?”
“Yeah, I am. What about you? You and Leanna coming to give us a visit?”
“Soon. Shit with Strawberry has been a nightmare. Luke’s been struggling as well.” Crazy ran a hand down his
